Michael Baker

Born in 1961, I'm retired software entrepreneur enjoying new adventures of all kinds. I like to travel, hike, act, write, and loaf. I love a good restaurant.

My life is a series of events gone wrong. I shudder to think what my life would have been like if it turned out exactly as I planned it.

During my many years here I have been a professional percussionist, orchestra conductor, public school music teacher, published composer, published author, factory owner, software entrepreneur, actor, filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, and crossword puzzle builder. In June 2023 I had a puzzle in the New York Times!

I've appeared in many plays in the DFW area, as well as appeared on several TV shows and commercials. Always want to do more!

Crossword Builder

I'm a crossword puzzle fiend. I used to be able to do the airline magazine puzzle before we took off. I especially like the NY Times puzzles and I'm getting good at the hard ones on Friday and Saturday. During the pandemic quarantine I started constructing puzzles. It's even more difficult to make one than it is to complete one! Try them out - I hope you like them.

Filmmaking

When I started writing scenes for acting class, I thought some of them would make good short films. So, I learned how to make short films! You can see them on Amazon Prime, and you can see all the awards I've won on my film website: Dial it Back Films

Traveler

With my kids grown and on their own, my wife and I like to travel. We've been to Panama, Mexico, Norway, Sweden, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, England, Belgium, The Netherlands, and lots more places. In 2023 we took a World Cruise and visited so many great places, from New Zealand and Australia to Bali, to Malaysia, Egypt, Israel, and Istanbul! We especially like Viking Cruises, and I even built a Viking Fan Crossword for them. They liked it, but didn't give us a free cruise.
